RECYCLE AT HOME = NO
Scrap metal cannot be recycled using your council’s recycling collection service. The collection service should only be used to recycle metal food and drink cans and tins, tin foil, aluminium food trays (takeaway containers) and empty aerosol cans.
RECYCLE OUT OF HOME = YES
Scrap metal can be recycled by taking it to your council-run Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.
You can also sell scrap metal to a scrap metal merchant. You can find your nearest registered scrap metal yard on the British Metals Recycling Association website. Remember: it is illegal to be paid cash for your scrap metal, including from your home address. You need to provide identification and the dealer requires a Scrap Metal Dealers Licence.
