RECYCLE AT HOME = NO

Printer cartridges (inkjet and toner) cannot be recycled using your council’s recycling collection service.

RECYCLE OUT OF HOME = YES

Printer cartridges can be recycled at your council-run Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.

Some printer cartridge companies offer a free recycling service. For example the Canon Cartridge Recycling Programme, HP Planet Partners Programme and Epson Cartridge Collection and Recycling Programme. 

You can also raise money for your chosen charity by sending your used cartridges to organisations like Recycle 4 Charity.

Waste less…

  • Switch to refillable ink cartridges – they will probably save you money and cut down on waste
  • Try to cut down on the amount of printing you do at home – can you read the document on a screen instead?
  • Print in draft quality and in colour only when absolutely necessary to conserve your ink supplies
